Matière radio a débuté en mars 2017 après l’invitation de la radio pirate Radio Jose créée au sein de l’occupation temporaire Les Grands Voisins. Nos émissions étaient diffusées tous les mercredis sur la fréquence 107,09. Actuellement, nos émissions sont accessibles en podcast sur notre site.Nos émissions sont composées d'un collage d’archives audio variées et parlées/chantées en différentes langues. L’écoute y est le premier outil mise en place dans notre recherche pour la composition d'un kaléidoscope sonore. En plus des archives trouvées, nous construisons, avec la participation ponctuelle de nos collaborateurs, des paysages acoustiques qui suivent différents principes:

connexion-matière ::: diffusion d'enregistrements de sons quotidiens des villes étrangères
mémoire-matière ::: description par coeur des productions culturelles diverses (un film, un livre, une exposition, une musique, un évènement, etc) —> l'idée est de voir comment la mémoire s'approprie et récrée à sa manière des choses vues et entendues
matières-sonores :::: faire connaître des outils de travail à partir des sons qu'ils produisent
matière-climatique :::: météo des villes inconnues

One of the axes of our sound-based research is called Matière Radio. It started in March 2017 after the invitation of the pirate radio station, “Radio Jose”, created in the temporary occupation of Les Grands Voisins (Paris, France). Our programs were broadcasted every Wednesday and they were also available as a podcast on our website.

Our programs are made up of a collage of various audio archives (text / music / noises) in different languages. Listening is the first tool we use to compose a kaleidoscope of sounds. To design our programs, we use archives found on the internet, and we also broadcast acoustic landscapes that follow different principles:

connexion-matière: recordings of daily life in foreign cities

mémoire-matière: audio-descriptions of various cultural productions (a film, a book, an exhibition, a music, an event, etc.). The idea is to see how memory appropriates and recreates things seen in its own way.

matières-sonores: the concrete sounds of different working tools.

matière-climatique: the weather forecast for unknown cities.

Our experiments with sounds are accompanied by a research on radio as a communication medium. This research reflects on the principle of information exchange and different issues regarding the systems and means that currently limit distance communication, highlighting the political and commercial interests involved.
